KFAQ 1170 Morning Talk on Life Support? - UPDATED

When Michael DelGiorno left KFAQ (April 2007, I think), you knew that it would be hard to fill those shoes. I had been a steadfast listener of Michael's for quite some time, learning a lot about the city where I was born and raised. I was certainly learning more about my town than I had ever learned before. Well, at least with his departure, his partner Gwen Freeman was going to take over, lending some continutity to KFAQ and loyal audience. The show rocked along, but certainly in recent weeks and months, listening became increasingly difficult. Gwen was increasingly marginalized, cut off from speaking or finishing a thought, and was often corrected in a less than flattering way. After not hearing her voice for several days, there was a suggestion that she was out sick. This seemed likely since everyone I know at the moment is sick or is recovering from some illness that is going around. However, enough time has passed that it is now clear that something has changed. I certainly can't tell you what happened behind the scenes, but it certainly now appears that Gwen has had her fill and is out. A look at the KFAQ website homepage shows that the link to Gwen's page has been deleted. If you still want to see her page, it is still up (for the moment) at:
NOTE: KFAQ web page has been removed, if you want to see what it looked like, go here.
I don't know Gwen, never met her, never called into the show. But I admire a risk-taker. I suspect she could have gone to Nashville with Michael (the easy way), but she didn't. She took a chance at her own radio show. Fear not. You didn't get the success that you wanted this time, but if life as taught me anything, it' that if you don't give up, you will ultimately achieve what you want.
NOTE TO KFAQ:
It's time to take a look at the morning slot. I hope that Gwen can be a part in some way. If not, it's time to begin collecting resumes and begin looking for a replacement of the DelGiorno breed.
Update: Gwen has now joined Michael on his morning show in Nashville. Hearing them together again sure makes me realize how much I miss both of these folks. If you want to listen to the streaming audio (the show starts at 9AM) go to the WTN website at http://www.997wtn.com/, click on the Listen Live link.

This doesn't work perfectly, it cuts in and out at times even with a fast internect connection, but you'll get 90% of the show.
