Trying to Understand Islam

We're all good Americans, right?

We try to be good world citizens with respect to all the diversity that exists today. But occasionally a story sneaks through that puts me to the test. If an American imam wrote a book on how to beat your wife without leaving any marks, what sort of action do you think would be taken?
If that ever occurs here, I hope that we would take the track that the Spanish courts took this week. There is a certain simple logic behind a judge that tells a convicted criminal that part of what is required is an understanding of the language and laws that govern the place in which you reside. Do I go invited to a friends house and then tell them how the evening is going to come off? Let's see the reaction in this country when a judge demands that someone learn to speak English and is required to gain a basic understanding of the Consitution.
