New Neighborhood Association in Tulsa?
Travis or Terwilleger neighborhood Association??
A small group met over a year ago to discuss some home building that was going on at 26th and Terwilleger. There was an older home there on a large corner lot that had been purchased, torn down, and (initially) subdivided into four lots. A compromise, of sorts, was reached, but the bottom line question (like other older neighborhoods in Tulsa) becomes, what is appropriate for developing/redeveloping homes in an older neighborhood. (Look at the white home at 30th & Utica).
The area that we are talking about is 21st to 31st, from Peoria to Utica. I am lucky enough to live in this area. We have some of the most beautiful streets in this town, and have homes from cottages to mansions. With Utica Square on one end, and Brookside on the other, this is one of the best 'situated' places in this city.
So, does this place work to maintain it's beauty, or can anything go? I don't know the answer.
I happen to know the architect involved, and he is not evil or out to ruin my neighborhood. But where do we go from here. Are there places worth preserving? Looks like for Terwilleger, the discussion has started.
